Both the inward thought and the heart of man are deep.
Luke 11:37-40
37 And as He spoke, a certain Pharisee asked Him to dine with
him. So He went in and sat down to eat.
38 And when the Pharisee saw it, he marveled that He had not first washed
before dinner.
39 But the Lord said to him, "Now you Pharisees make the outside
of the cup and
dish clean, but your inward part is full of greed and wickedness.
40 "Foolish ones! Did not He who made the outside make the inside
also?
The struggle of the new man
Rom 7:22-23
22 For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man.
23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my
mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my
members.
The inward man being renewed each day

or which a person or thing exerts and puts forth
1b) power for performing miracles
1c) moral power and excellence of soul
1d) the power and influence which belong to riches and wealth

POWER
Power is the ability or strength to perform an activity or deed. Power
is sometimes used with the word authority. If power suggests physical
strength, authority suggests a moral right or privilege.
One can have power to perform a task but not authority to do it. Jesus
Christ had both power and authority and He bestowed
these upon His followers. Go into all the world.
Eph 3:16

with might through His Spirit in the inner man, (NKJ)
We can perform miracles
MIRACLE
1. (1411), "power, inherent ability," is used of works of a
supernatural origin and character, such as could not be produced by natural
agents and means.
Philip did miracles in Jesus name
Acts 8:13
Then Simon himself also believed; and when he was
baptized he continued with Philip, and was amazed, seeing the miracles
and signs which were done. (NKJ)

1. There are three types of hunger
· the body hunger- the thing's of the world
· the soul hunger - the things of the mind
· the spirit hunger - for righteousness
3. There are two natures
· The nature of God
· The nature of the devil
The father of the unsaved is Satan
John 8:39-44
A. 39 They answered and said to Him, "Abraham
is our father. (They claimed a religious position in the faith of God.)
B. " Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you
would do the works of Abraham. (The works of Abraham is faith because
children followed in their parents footsteps)
C. 40 "But now you seek to kill Me, (The devil always seeks to destroy
the works of God) a Man (Here we see Jesus proclaiming his coming from
God as a man, and also leaving them with no excuse as to accepting the
gospel.) (God's most supreme creation is man who is the very image of
his creator)

light is contrary to darkness)

G. 41 "You do the deeds of your father. (According to the nature
that is within them)
H. "Then they said to Him, "We were not
born of fornication; we have one Father-- God." (Religious people
will always defend their religion)
I. 42 Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love
Me, (whoever claims to belong to God will live a life of love)
J. for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself,
but He sent Me. (Truth can only come from God)
K. 43 "Why do you not understand My speech? (The unregenerated cannot
comprehend the word of truth because it is hidden from him spiritually)
L. Because you are not able to listen to My word. (The unsaved is deaf
to the voice of God)
M. 44 "You are of your father the devil, (The
true origin of all who do not believe is the devil because he is an unbeliever)
N. and the desires of your father you want to do.(They that are of the
devil carry out his purposes because they cannot help themselves)
O. He was a murderer from the beginning, (Here is the very heart of Satan)
and does not stand in the truth, (He is unable to
stand because he cannot retain the word of God)
P. because there is no truth in him. (There is no room in him for the
truth) When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he
is a liar and the father of it. (His conversation)
The carnal man cannot receive the things of the Spirit.
A. The carnal mind is an enemy of God
Rom 8:7-9
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject
to the law of God, nor indeed can be.
8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit
of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ,
he is not His.
B. The carnal Christian is not grown
1 Cor 3:1
And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as
to carnal, as to babes in Christ.
1 Cor 3:3
for you are still carnal. For where there are envy,
strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like
mere men?
1 Cor 3:4
For when one says, "I am of Paul," and another, "I am of
Apollos," are you not carnal?
C. The natural man cannot receive from the Spirit
1 Cor 2:14
14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God,
for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are
spiritually discerned.
The works of the flesh
Gal 5:19-21
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication,
uncleanness, lewdness,
20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath,
selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,
21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which
I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in
time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom
of God. (NKJ)

God has the power to withhold the fruit
Gen 30:1-2
1 Now when Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, Rachel envied her

The three convictions of the Holy Spirit
John 16:8
A. "And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin
He convicts the world by reminding us that we are descendants of the first
man Adam who sinned by disobeying the Lord when he was asked not to eat
from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, so therefore there is
no excuse for the sin of unbelief.
B. and of righteousness,
Christ is our righteousness and only he can make us pure by the washing
of his blood. We are insufficient to save ourselves, for our righteousness
is as filthy rags.
C. and of judgment: By this statement it is clear that every man shall
stand before the judgment of God. No one will escape the wrath of God
for rejecting the only solution to their sin, which is Christ and Christ
alone.
The resurrected body is strong through the Holy Spirit
1 Cor 15:42-46
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead.
The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption.
Burying the dead is like sowing them; it is like committing the seed to
the earth, that it may spring out of it again. And our bodies, which are
sown, are corruptible, liable to putrefy and moulder, and crumble to dust;
but, when we rise, they will be out of the power of the grave, and never
more be liable to corruption.
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is to be understood in
the context of reaping and sowing. It reflects the same principle of unity
and diversity. The resurrection body is related to the earthly body in
the same sense that the plant is related to the seed. Yet, it will be
different. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption.
43 It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory.
Ours is at present a vile body, Phil. 3:21. Nothing is more loathsome
than a dead body; it is thrown into the grave as a despised and broken
vessel, in which there is no pleasure. But at the resurrection a glory
will be put upon it; it will be made like the glorious body of our Saviour;
it will be purged from all the dregs of earth, and refined into an ethereal
substance, and shine out with a splendor resembling his.
It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power.
It is laid in the earth, a poor helpless thing, wholly in the power of
death, deprived of all vital capacities and powers, of life and strength:
it is utterly unable to move or stir. But when we arise our bodies will
have heavenly life and vigour infused into them; they will be hale, and
firm, and durable, and lively, and liable no more to any infirmity,
weakness, or decay.
43-44. Paul enlarges upon the contrast between the
two. The one is sown in dishonor
weakness
a natural body.
It is raised in glory
power
spiritual.
45. So it is written. Tantamount to saying, "and this agrees with
Scripture." Adam was made a living soul seems to have in mind the
earthly animal nature given to Adam in the original creation. This seems
to suit the parallel ideas in verses 46 through 49. The last Adam was
made a quickening spirit (lit., "the last Adam became a quickening
spirit"). The expression last Adam was coined by the Apostle Paul
as a reference to Christ (cf. also Rom. 5:14). The contrast here is not
so much between the soul and the spirit as it is between "living
and "life-giving". The principle of life is common with all
men. The last Adam is infinitely more than that (Jn 5:26). The one partakes
of temporality, the other of eternality.
44 It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is
a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
45 And so it is written, "The first man Adam
became a living being." The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.
46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward
the spiritual.
4. He illustrates this by a comparison of the first
and second Adam: There is an animal body, says he, and there is a spiritual
body; and then goes into the comparison in several instances.
(1.) As we have our natural body, the animal body we have in this world,
from the first Adam, we expect our spiritual body from the second. This
is implied in the whole comparison.
(2.) This is but consonant to the different characters these two persons
bear: The first Adam was made a living soul, such a being as ourselves,
and with a power of propagating such beings as himself, and conveying
to them a nature and animal body like his own, but none other, nor better.
The second Adam is a quickening Spirit; he is the resurrection and the
life, Jn. 11:25. He hath life in himself, and quickeneth whom he will,
Jn. 5:20, 21. The first man was of the earth, made out of the earth, and
was earthy; his body was fitted to the region of his abode: but the second
Adam is the Lord from heaven; he who came down from heaven, and giveth
life to the world (Jn. 6:33); he who came down from heaven and was in
heaven at the same time (Jn. 3:13); the Lord of heaven and earth. If the
first Adam could communicate to us natural and animal bodies, cannot the
second Adam make our bodies spiritual ones? If the deputed lord
of this lower creation could do the one, cannot the Lord from heaven,
the Lord of heaven and earth, do the other?
(3.) We must first have natural bodies from the first Adam before we can
have spiritual bodies from the second (v. 49); we
must bear the image of the earthy before we can bear the image of the
heavenly. Such is the established order of Providence. We must have weak,
frail, mortal bodies by descent from the first Adam, before we can have
lively, spiritual, and immortal ones by the quickening power of the second.
We must die before we can live to die no more.
46-48. However, it was the natural which came first; it was the spiritual
which came afterward. Adam is of the earth, Christ is the Lord from heaven.
The former is thus earthly, the latter is heavenly.
Moses was strong in sight and in body
Deut 34:7
Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died. His eyes were
not dim nor his natural vigor diminished. (NKJ)
