We are called by God
Isa 45:22-25
22 "Look to Me, and be saved, all you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.
23 I have sworn by Myself; the word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, that to Me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall take an oath.
24 He shall say, `Surely in the LORD I have righteousness and strength. To Him men shall come, and all shall be ashamed who are incensed against Him.
25 In the LORD all the descendants of Israel shall be justified, and shall glory.'" (NKJ)

We must draw near to God
Moses' drew near
Exod 3:5
Then He said, "Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground." (NKJ)

The Psalmist declares it is good to draw near to God
Ps 73:28
But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all Your works. (NKJ)

David prayed for God to draw near
Ps 69:16-18
16 Hear me, O LORD, for Your lovingkindness is good; turn to me according to the multitude of Your tender mercies.
17 And do not hide Your face from Your servant, for I am in trouble; hear me speedily.
18 Draw near to my soul, and redeem it; deliver me because of my enemies.

Solomon tells us to draw near to God and listen to His Word
Eccl 5:1
Walk prudently when you go to the house of God; and draw near to hear rather than to give the sacrifice of fools, for they do not know that they do evil. (NKJ)

Draw near with a sincere heart
Heb 10:22
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. (NKJ)

God draws near when we draw near
James 4:8
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. (NKJ)

Matthews Henry Isaiah 45:20--25 The nations are exhorted to draw near to Jehovah. None besides is able to help; he is the Saviour, who can save without the assistance of any, but without whom none can save. If the heart is brought into the obedience of Christ, the knee will cheerfully obey his commands. To Christ men shall come from every nation for blessings; all that hate his cause shall be put to shame, and all believers shall rejoice in him as their Friend and Portion. All must come to him: may we now come to him as the Lord our Righteousness, walking according to his commandments.

1. None can be saved except through God
2. Many will come from afar
3. We can rejoice in God our portion
4. We can come in full assurance

The beauty of Christ is not seen on the outside
Isa 53:2-3
2 For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; and when we see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him.
3 He is despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; he was despised, and we did not esteem Him. (NKJ)

All are welcome to come drink and eat
Isa 55:1-3
1 "Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
2 Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in abundance.
3 Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you-- the sure mercies of David. (NKJ)

The Father gave us to Christ
John 6:37
"All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. (NKJ)

Jesus wants us to come to him for drink
John 7:37
On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. (NKJ)

The Holy Spirit says come
Rev 22:17
And the Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely. (NKJ)

Adam was burdened all the days of his life
Gen 3:17
Then to Adam He said, "Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, `You shall not eat of it': "Cursed is the ground for your sake; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life. (NKJ)

Man is born to trouble
Job 5:7
Yet man is born to trouble, as the sparks fly upward. (NKJ)

We are also burdened by man
Matt 23:4
"For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. (NKJ)

Stay free from slavery
Gal 5:1
Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. (NKJ)

God wants us to return to our rest
Ps 94:13
That You may give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit is dug for the wicked. (NKJ)

Ps 116:7
Return to your rest, O my soul, for the LORD has dealt bountifully with you. (NKJ)

Isa 11:10
"And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, who shall stand as a banner to the people; for the Gentiles shall seek Him, and His resting place shall be glorious." (NKJ)

Isa 28:12
To whom He said, "This is the rest with which you may cause the weary to rest," and, "This is the refreshing"; yet they would not hear. (NKJ)

Isa 48:17-18
Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way you should go.
18 Oh, that you had heeded My commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea. (NKJ)

Jer 6:16
Thus says the LORD: "Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; then you will find rest for your souls. But they said, `We will not walk in it.' (NKJ)

II Th 1:7
and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, (NKJ)

Heb 4:1
Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. (NKJ)
